Hello World! -Season 2

written by / vishu, on / June 15th, 2010, under / Fiction

bang bang boom

Southern town of Mogadishu, Somalia a place as dangerous as hell. The most grievous place to be in at this time. He told me to meet me in Bakara market. He has some extremely sensitive report regarding al-Shabab and al-Qaeda link and the plot of another conspiracy, bigger then 9/11. It was in the news that at least eight civilians were killed in fighting overnight here. A foul smell was all over the place.

“Its 5:30 and he told me that he will be here by 4.” I murmured. Hiding myself from a local gang dressed with standard 12 gauge cartridges and modified MAG-7M1.

“Another 15 minutes and I will be going back to the base camp.”

And suddenly from the right corner of the street a skinny ragged man came running towards me. His bald head was red in his own blood.  As frighten as the chicken in the hunting game, he just fall in front of me. I read death in his eyes. He handed me a black file wrapped in a green polibag. Signaling towards the small hole in the left brick wall with his trembling index finger he shouted collecting all his energy “Go!!!”

Before I could sense anything, from the same corner where he entered I saw davils. Two larger then life, huge guys one with green turban and red beard and other short hairs and a deep scar at his face shouted in a language which every lamb can understand. I searched for my lucky feet to put forward for this marathon of life and without a blink I was flying, best to the capacity of my lungs.  Sliding through that narrow crack in the wall, jumping over the carts, in between the cattles, I ran for something more precious then life.

But the rat race ended in a dead end. There was a big wall at one end and the merchants of death at other end. I opened my mouth for help but the voice stuck in my throat, Sweat was running over my chin. I turned back and saw a loud laugh and two barrel pointed towards me.

“IS this the end.” I asked myself

He tightened his grip over the gun, flexed his shoulders,  his golden tooth shined and with a bang he fired three shots ….

Trin trin trin …
Triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

And I threw that alarm clock at the wall. At least today I should be thankful to it as this is the first time in the history an alarm clock saved a secret service agent.

So that’s where Season 2 of Hello World starts at ParveenVerma.com.

And thanks God there is no copywriter on hello world.  Anyone and everyone can pop up from anywhere to say it with a smile.  If there has been any, it would have made life tougher for we developers. This is the only thing that we write in any code. Other things  are just copy pastes.  (Did not I told you I am a software developer. I guess you would have guessed it and you must be laughing right now saying my gas is better than your gas. Opps mistake of spell checker, not my fault. I have forgotten to check spelling my own the day I started typing.

Irritated reading this. I know. In this world two kinds of people are very difficult to interact with: a software guy and a software guy with a cup of coffee.  Ok I guess I am overshooting my limit of word counts. I end this sloppy intro here with final words about me.

I am a Java developer and I am pretty serious about it. What you have read here is done by my alter ego. As I have a habit of sleep writing, sleep painting, sleep sketching, sleep slipping of tongue.

Happy sleeping!!!

hissss … venom on the papersss!

written by / Parveen Verma, on / May 21st, 2010, under / Fiction

hissss venom on the papersHissss …

studio6t9 – In ma drms (las nyt), ma pencils complained abt being lonely n desired 2 spit some venom on paper , does dat mean @MallikaLA on cards 2day?”

Oh yes, been a real long time that i paid visit to my blog or when i last wrote something in here, i don’t remember when did i last even thought of writing something … (Gosh help me). i believe Discipline is something what’s missing in my life big times, never the less i am here today to make up on all the lags i had in recent times … being away from my peNcils and blog.

I have been sketching lately (tak a look at BigB, FairyTale and Screm under peNcil section) but could not share them with you while i was doing so, so today i have decided that i will be updating you all with work in progress images, the sketch i am working on, problems faced and final results and you be the judge of efforts put in.

Today, i will try and sketch Mallika Sherawat promoting her latest movie hissss at Cannes film festival.

Now is the time to grab my pencils, sharpen ‘em a little, grab my drawing board and get going, so … stay tune for an update :)

Update 1

Here is one shot from work in progress, my camera fukked up on me, i should re-connect my scanner for better results.

Mallika Sherawat Work in Progress

Well she is not at all easy to draw, this is a very rough work in progress, struggled a lot to get her cheek and chin in shape and i believe there is still scope to cheer her up. Will try really hard to complete this sketch by tonight so stay tuned … :)

Update 2

Guyz here is another effort to complete this sketch, she is not as easy to draw as i thought, facing a lot of problems, sometimes her cheek wouldn’t come out right, sometimes her lips, chin and there is still a lot of scope to further enhance this sketch though i am happy with the way her hair turned out. I just drew few lines from original photo than just played around with strokes without even looking at screen.

Mallika Sherawat Work in Progress - 2

Stay tune for the final result (maybe by tomorrow evening :)
PS – Sorry for the bad camera angle, compromised for good light

Pencils – Falling in love again

written by / Parveen Verma, on / February 17th, 2010, under / Fiction

Pencils - Falling in love againOhhhh Yes, Falling in LOVE … once again.

if this woman is looking out from window then how come sun is settling down in the background? Well that’s mean (I said to myself), but he was right.

I have always been in love with pencils, colors ever since i was a kid and the love faded after i got busy making money … what a PITY.

So how come it’s back again?

Well, after writing my first blog post, i was kind of struggling to concentrate on the topic of my next, so …. what did i do?

I took a day off and went to Surajkund Mela 2010 held at Surajkund, Faridabad.

Chitra, I and Anoop ( Chitra’s brother ) left for the fest around 10:30 in the morning and returned somewhere in the evening around 7, so we were there for the whole day. We enjoyed all our day had a great fun, chitra burned all the money she had, Anoop  and i enjoyed all the sightseeing and of course efforts put in by the various artists.

Here are some of the highlights

These only glow at nightsThey aren't fake ... are they?Rajasthani Folk Music

Beautiful Umbrellasandels for everyone

You may also follow this URL “cOloRSoFRurAlINDIA” to experience few clicks from this fest.

Okay, let’s not get in too much of details of our little picnic here but focus on if I got my next topic of interests? Well Yes, I did, I fell in love with all vibrant colors one could see everywhere. All the reds, blues, greens, yellows, Pinks … beautiful use of colors in every shape, paintings, form of art, walls, trees … virtually  everywhere and moreover all the little rangolis, rajasthani rural art presented almost on every wall and that reminded me of my passion for art which I lost ages ago.

So what did I do after I got back home?

I wanted to go out in the market buy myself all the possible oil paints, brushes in all sizes, big art board, canvases, painting knives … every possible material that would help me start my passion once again.

Did I go out and bought all that stuff?

I sat in my computer chair, opened up Google map to locate nearest art & stationary store and I realized that I was using my mouse on a hard surface and bang it was my newly bought bamboo tablet … what a pity, I was using my tablet as a mouse surface? WTF, I dropped the idea of buying all that material instead I thought let’s give this baby a chance and see if I could use it for better.

So what did I do next?

I opened up Photoshop plugged in my bamboo and tried my strokes very loosely to see how responsive it was and honestly speaking I could not make it do or behave the way I wanted it to do. I tried turning up and down pressure settings, adjusting working area but it wasn’t feeling as nice as a real brush scrubbing through a canvas but I didn’t give up and came up with this result.

My First Digital Painting

I know, i know, i know … It sucks, got a chance to catch up with my few friends a couple of days back and one of my friends Ketan, got my attention towards a logical mistake in this painting. He said that if this woman is looking out from window then how come sun is settling down in the background? Well that’s mean (I said to myself), but he was right. I could have come up with different explanations, one could be that it’s her wallpaper in the background or a big mirror reflecting the view she is glaring at, but all in all … this digital did not turn out into something i was hoping for.

So, what did i do next?

Well it will be a fairly long post if i were to share my next attempt, but TO KILL THE CURIOSITY I GRABBED MY PENCILS and here is what’s next in the stores.

Bull - Work in progress

So stay tune to find out my thoughts on this sketch and my attempts and desire to get closer to my first love.

baBye

Hello World! My First Blog Post

written by / Parveen Verma, on / February 5th, 2010, under / Fiction

Hello World :)WOW,

finally i have started something i have been trying to or dreaming of for a long long time now :)

It’s going to be almost a decade since i have happen to know a little about internet world or contributed in some or the other way to experience it a little better, but haven’t really got a chance to share thoughts about … so here i am writing my first ever blog post of my life, my career and sharing it with The World. So,

Hello World :)

This is really an exciting moment to share my thoughts with friends, family, loved ones, critics, domain experts and of course with the world for the very first time :)

First thing first, let’s try and figure out who is this guy shouting about his first blog post? Doesn’t everyone who starts a blog have to write one?

“Ohhh yeah, damn straight aye!” This is my first ever blog post and I have every right to be proud and shout about it and I am as excited as you were writing your first ever post or as a child who got his/her first clapping monkey toy :)

My name is Parveen verma, a freelance design consultant working from home most of the time for almost a year now. I have over 8 years of experience in designing and developing digital media solutions, mastered almost every aspect of online offline PDLC mostly concentrating on Information Architecture, Use Experience, creative conception and User expectations. I will write all about myself in a different post or page and let’s keep this post as small and precise as possible.

Okay, we get it, but what is this blog going to be about? Are people going to read, follow, or be benefited? Or is this going to be one of those millions, billions or trillions blogs scattered out there?

Well honestly, at this very moment all i can say is “i don’t know”, these questions can only be answered with time and by the progress we will see here, but what I can feed you with is what topics, categories will I be focusing on along the way.

I will try and write/share my opinion on user experience, user expectations, usability in general and online industry, latest design trends, how to be inspired, how to kick start you projects etc. I will also try and share my methodology/experience on any current projects in hand. Yeah, I think that’s what I will try and achieve and the list may grow as time passes by.

Sounds interesting wish you all the success.

Cool, I guess that’s it for my first post, if you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to write a comment or share your thoughts in comments section or drop me a line at
